International Festival Chico California

April 30, 2008 / by tmstudent

On Saturday I attended the International Festival at the Downtown Plaza in Chico California.  It was an event with all different ages and races, it is the first time I have seen such a diverse group of people gathered in Chico at one time. There were many different groups and cultures represented with their own booths and areas.  There were all kinds of aromas in the air that smelled of delicious foods.  Each culture was preparing the foods that their people most enjoyed eating.  They also had all kinds of clothing, that was represented many interesting looks.

There was also a band in the back round playing all kinds of different and diverse music.  They were very enjoyable and had a pleasing sound.  They even played some Rolling Stones if my mind serves me right.  I was also very intrigued by the people that were around me, there were some real characters in the crowd.  I was also very impressed with how nice every single person was.  Everyone was very willing to interact with me and accept me.  This was nice since there is not really a certain culture that I identify closely with.  It was also nice to see that the event was very age friendly; there was something there for all ages to enjoy, and the good food, who doesn’t enjoy that?

All in all I really enjoyed myself and it turned out to be a nice little Saturday.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but the expectations were by far exceeded.  I can still smell the aroma of the food. It’s making me hungry so I am going to cut this off and go eat something.
